This review is from: Within Arm's Length: The Extraordinary Life and Career of a Special Agent in the United States Secret Service (Paperback)
This is a fascinating book which makes the Cartagena scandal more perplexing. Here are the three questions that I would like to ask Dan Emmett:
1) Are you talking about George Stephanopoulos on page 106?
2) Why did Cartagena happen?
3) How about taking over for Mark Sullivan?
Kathryn,
Thank you for the kind review. To answer your questions:
1. No, George is not referred to in the book. He was always easy to work with in my opinion and seemed to understand the relationship between staff and the Service.
2. A very good question that many are asking. The answers are being hammered out now at HQ and I am sure will be made available in the future.
3. If you are referring to my taking over for Mark Sullivan, thanks but no. I am quite happy in retirement. As far as him being replaced, I think it is premature at this point. Let the investigation run its course. Due to the intense political interest, this will be resolved sooner than later.
Thanks again,
Dan
