The TRULY TASTELESS Kennedy Detail autographs for big $$$

(By request...and because I know "OJ" Badalson is reading this)

My hundreds of readers are disgusted by this- these comments sum up their feelings for these agents who are profiting handsomely from the death of JFK:

“What an embarrassment! That would be like Bill Buckner signing a picture of the ball going through his legs give me a break!”

“These guys are always whining about “oh we’re traumatized we have nightmares” blah blah blah I know let’s sign pictures of that day what a joke.”

"i guess I should remember if they were irresponsible enough to allow his murder why would they show any respect for him afterwards...despicable endorsement"

"Hard to believe that anyone would autograph a picture that depicts them failing to do their job, resulting in the murder of the very person they were assigned to protect!"

THE know the rest.

My comment/post to Mary Moorman herself about her photo today

"Mary Ann, with rare exception, I hate photo interpretation- it all seems subjective, wishful thinking, unprovable and like a Rohrschach test...but NOT this image. That is a man's fedora hat (Ruby's??) at the fence line in YOUR photo!! This is "old" news to some, but still powerful"

"Officially, no one was there and there were reports of men carrying Secret Service badges and identifying themselves as such (again, officially, no agents were posted there)"

Dave Weigman Film Frames show gunsmoke in the trees

Dave Wiegman Jr. was a cameraman in one of the follow up cars in the presidential limousine. After the assassination we can see him, in his video, jumping from his car and running towards the knoll, presumably in search of a shooter.

We can then see him run back and film the Newman family situated on the knoll - both of them on the ground fearing more shots.

I started rethinking the 36 second Wiegman film, after I had a Facebook conversation with Vince Palamara. I had always believed that what people thought was smoke in the trees, was just one of the trees down near the overpass that was turning color to bright orange due to the time of year. As Zapruder films down toward the overpass you can see this tree.

But, I was very surprised when I started reviewing this film that it's very plain to see that it's is NOT the tree. It is definitely gun smoke and it lines up with what Robert Grodan said some years ago when he released 1 frame showing the smoke. When I start looking at each of Dave Weigmans frames it was pretty plain to see that the gun smoke did linger in the treeline like many witnesses said.

Dave Weigmans film might just be one of the most underrated films of the assassination, because in those first seconds after the shooting he actually captures the lingering gun-smoke thus proving without any shadow of a doubt that there were men behind the fence as witnesses testified to.

I have attached first an image of Dave Weigman in the plaza filming. Then I have attached various frames from his film. I color filled these frames and adjusted the contrast and light levels so that you can plainly see the gun smoke wafting across the treeline and floating in front of the overpass.

Last, I attached some witness statements who said that they saw this gun smoke. When you line up all of this evidence with the frames I have been posting from the Nix film along with frame 367 of the Zapruder film, its very convincing.

Mark Lane interviews James L. Simmons
At 1:09 in this interview James said he saw a puff of smoke that came underneugh the trees

Mark Lane interviews Sam Holland
At 1:13 in this interview Sam Holland said he saw a puff of smoke still lingering underneath the trees.

Mark Lane interviews Richard Dodd
At about 32 seconds he says the smoke came from behind the Hedge.

Blaine debunked AGAIN

Blaine debunked AGAIN

Yes - 87 year old Dallas detective Elmer Boyd joins the chorus: It was the Secret Service who made the primary decisions about the president's security:

"Boyd was engaged in the security preparations leading up to the president’s visit, but as it would be today, the Secret Service made the key decisions. So, he couldn’t shed any light on why the president’s limousine was not protected during the motorcade with a specially made plastic bubble top. It would later be reported that the enclosure was not bullet proof, but the decision not to use it would fuel a few conspiracy theories.
Boyd pointed out that a Dallas newspaper ran an extensive article on the morning before the assassination about how the social issues of the era provoked some Texas tension for the president. But Boyd said those concerns were not reflected in the Secret Service briefings in the days and hours before the shots were fired at Kennedy around 12:30 in the afternoon on November 22, 1963."

Pioneering Black Secret Service JFK Guard Warns Of Current Lessons

Excellent new article about former Secret Service agent Abraham Bolden I am mentioned in several times (including showing the cover of my first book) [my last name is misspelled most of the time but I am told that will be corrected soon] :

Prof. Philip Melanson- Secret Service writing pioneer

I met him at COPA 1996. RIP-a great guy. I am mentioned several times in his Secret Service book

His legacy will live on via his family, students and his books. Still, gone too soon. I remember he passed away not long after his updated Secret Service book came out. We were in e-mail correspondence a year or so before, as well.

Gary Mack R.I.P.

It is a true measure of what the man meant to so many just by seeing the quantity and quality of responses to his sad passing, especially in relation to Harry Livingstone (total crickets, even with my circulating his virtues and history far and wide [passed away February 2015]) and even Vince Bugliosi (passed away 6/6/15)], at least in the online JFK research community, where the ratio seemed to be 10 to 1 in the "good riddance, bug man" category. With regard to Gary, I would say the ratio is 10 to 1 in respect of the man and his value to the community, no matter what side of the case you were on.

In fact (and I made this analogy on Facebook), Gary reminds me of the character in the Chuck Norris movie Missing in Action II that APPEARED to be a traitor yet, the whole time or, at least, near the end, actually was on "our side" (pro-conspiracy) after all. Yes, he definitely was the spokesman for the LN side in all those pro-LHO-did-it-alone television specials, worked for the Sixth Floor Museum, and seemed to have a hand in the overall bias of the books and views coming out of that place, but he also always seemed to give hints, both covert and overt, that his heart was in the pro-conspiracy camp (the "agent" of unknown repute in the plaza, Badge Man, the right rear of JFK's head being gone, etc.). I vividly remember his scathing review of Gerald Posner's book "Case Closed" in either late 1993 or early 1994 in the late Jerry Rose's journal The Third Decade wherein he said (and I remember this part word for word) that Posner "has given history a sham of a book", hardly the words of a "lone-nutter."

And yet the reputation lingered.

I think it was also because Gary was tired of all the silly nonsense stories and theories out there and sought (with Dave Perry) to eliminate them.

Gary was always nice to me and I have fond memories of his mailing me a free, unsolicited copy of "JFK: The Dallas Tapes" on VHS back in 1999 and never failing to politely answer my messages. I saw him briefly in Dallas on 11/22/97 and he was very gracious.

RIP, Gary
(and I am sorry for ripping off your fantastic line about a certain "suspect"---"James I-am-not-in-any-Files"; brilliant!)

mystery JFK motorcade -great Secret Service protection

Check THIS out- finally able to save this from what I thought was a broken file:
The late Ed Sherry sent me this mystery JFK motorcade clip and I post it here now for the first time. All he captioned the video excerpt with was the following: “Vincent P- motorcade President Kennedy South 1963. Enjoy. Ed.” GREAT SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION- bubbletop, agents walking/ running with the limo, etc.

150th anniversary of the Secret Service

1865- President Lincoln signs the bill by Secretary of the Treasury Hugh McCullough before heading to Ford's Theater where he is assassinated (the Secret Service actually did exist during the Civil War on both sides as a spy organization. The bill created them in a formal sense to combat counterfeiting)

1881- President James Garfield is assassinated

1897- The Secret Service begins informal protection of presidents when, on an informal/ courtesy basis, a few agents watch over President Grover Cleveland due to kidnapping (of baby daughter Ruth) threats

1901- Although Secret Service personnel were present, President William McKinley is assassinated.
The Secret Service begins its formal protection of the president

1932- President-elect FDR survives an assassination attempt

1950- President Truman survives an assassination attempt. Congress makes the protection of the president by the Secret Service legal via law

1963- JFK is assassinated

1975- President Ford survives two assassination attempts in the month of September by two different women

1981- President Reagan survives an assassination attempt

2015- 150th anniversary

Director Joe Clancy on Clint Hill, etc.

Director Joe Clancy on Clint Hill, etc.

"Clancy pointed to the ambush drill as a reminder of what is at stake for each Secret Service trainee. The exercise takes place in a mock village at the intersection of two roads, 15th street and Clint Hill Way.
Hill, as all Secret Service personnel must know, is the legendary agent who was on the detail assigned to protect President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963. The agent's agony of losing a commander-in-chief to an assassin's bullet was immortalized in the Clint Eastwood film based on Hill's life, "In the Line of Fire."

Clancy said he still speaks to Hill and other former special agents in charge of the Secret Service every year.

"I always think about Clint Hill and all of our people should because you never what's going to happen at any time," Clancy said."

Behind the Shades: A Female Secret Service Agent's True Story by Sue Ann Baker

The first women special agents, transferred from Nixon's old Executive Protection Service (later known as the Uniformed Division) of the Secret Service were hired 12/15/71: University of Wisconsin and Milwaukee native Holly Hufschmidt [a nurse in Vietnam, later infiltrated John Kerry's group VVAW]], Beloit College graduate Laurie Anderson from Jersey City, NJ, University of Maryland graduate Phyllis Schantz of Rome, NY [the very first woman Secret Service officer, sworn in 9/15/70], Salt Lake City Utah's Kathryn Clark (originally from Colorado), and present author and Ohio University graduate Sue Baker of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, who spent two weeks at a Summer camp in 1971 with JFK's daughter Caroline. Former Kennedy Detail agent Jack Warner told the press on 11/25/71 that the women were "very talented and kinda cute". Former agent Joe Petro has a photo of Hufschmidt in his fine book, the 1990 AFAUSSS book talks briefly about the five women pioneers, the excellent book about agent Charlie Gittens ("Out From The Shadow") has a fair amount of useful background on these trail blazers and even my own book duly mentions their achievement in a footnote, but I digress.

"Behind The Shades" is an excellently written book that is fascinating and informative. No Secret Service historian or history buff should miss this fine volume. 5 stars!
