FORMER JFK AGENT ABRAHAM BOLDEN: "SAVING A PRESIDENT"

FORMER JFK AGENT ABRAHAM BOLDEN: "SAVING A PRESIDENT"

Abe wrote on 2/17/2017:

"SAVING A PRESIDENT: In January, 2017, in an open letter to President Donald J. Trump, I recommended that, for his OWN safety, the President should make certain changes within the structure of the Secret Service. This letter was precipitated by the statement from a secret service agent that she would not perform her sworn duties pertaining to the protection of President Trump. My first recommendation was to:
Dismiss the current Chief of the U.S. Secret Service immediately. It has now been reported that: "Joe Clancy, the Director of the Secret Service, announced his retirement. The announcement was made on Feb. 14th. It will be effective March 4th, just two weeks after the announcement. The announcement comes just three weeks on the job under President Donald Trump. Clancy served from 1984-2011, and from Oct. 2014-Feb. 2017. That means Clancy resigned with two weeks notice after roughly 29 years of service." The next step should be a severance of the Secret Service White House Protective Detail from the Department of Homeland Security
and placed into a newly established Special Protective Services Section answering to the National Security Agency. This move would save the government millions of tax dollars by allowing sharing of the protective expenses across a wide cross-section of governmental military and civilian budgetary expenditures.....................I'm jus sayin.............."

The success of the Secret Service is achieved with great sacrifice by all of you and your families,” Clancy wrote in a letter to Secret Service staff members. “Please accept my sincere and heartfelt thanks for your dedication to our mission. You have inspired me. My hope was that I could return your gifts of inspiration with some measure of good for the Secret Service.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz also addressed Clancy’s resignation in a Tuesday statement.

I appreciate Director Clancy’s dedicated service to this country,” the Utah Republican wrote. “He took on the difficult task of returning to and taking over an agency plagued with mismanagement, misconduct and security lapses.”

“Under his leadership, the Secret Service has worked with this committee to implement detailed recommendations put forth in our bipartisan staff report,” he continued. “I wish him and his family the best as they begin a new chapter.”

I think Joe, a damn good man, honestly cannot stomach Trump and his minions. This does NOT infer he would not do his job 100 percent as a professional...it tells me he came out of retirement for Obama (he was the former Special Agent in Charge and they were close) and he is choosing to go BACK into retirement without any fuss.

Director Joe Clancy on Clint Hill, etc.

Director Joe Clancy on Clint Hill, etc.

"Clancy pointed to the ambush drill as a reminder of what is at stake for each Secret Service trainee. The exercise takes place in a mock village at the intersection of two roads, 15th street and Clint Hill Way.
Hill, as all Secret Service personnel must know, is the legendary agent who was on the detail assigned to protect President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963. The agent's agony of losing a commander-in-chief to an assassin's bullet was immortalized in the Clint Eastwood film based on Hill's life, "In the Line of Fire."

Clancy said he still speaks to Hill and other former special agents in charge of the Secret Service every year.

"I always think about Clint Hill and all of our people should because you never what's going to happen at any time," Clancy said."

Joe Clancy now the permanent Secret Service Director- excellent choice!

Joe Clancy now the permanent Secret Service Director- excellent choice!

WASHINGTON — President Obama has decided to appoint Joseph P. Clancy, who has guided the Secret Service on an interim basis for the last four months, to lead the agency permanently, the White House announced Wednesday, 2/18/15...
Mr. Chaffetz said he appreciated “how available Acting Director Clancy has made himself over the past few months” and looked forward to working with him.
Administration officials hope that Mr. Clancy’s appointment can provide some stability at the agency, where five senior executives were demoted in the last month as part of an effort to shake-up the leadership structure and appease critics.
The Secret Service also faces a busy period ahead: Along with protecting the first family and senior government officials, it will oversee the security for a visit by Pope Francis, for the 70th United Nations General Assembly and the beginning of the 2016 presidential campaign.

President Obama has named Joseph Clancy as the new permanent director of the U.S. Secret Service, the White House confirmed Wednesday, defying the recommendation of an independent panel that recommended he look outside the agency.
Clancy, a 27-year veteran of the Secret Service and former special agent in charge of its Presidential Protection Division, took over as temporary director last October after the former director, Julia Pierson, resigned.

Some panel members said Wednesday that Clancy had a good mix of experience inside and outside the agency. "Joe Clancy is deeply respected within the federal law enforcement community. He has served with distinction inside the Secret Service, and he has done well respected work outside the Secret Service too," said Mark Filip, a former federal judge and deputy attorney general in the George W. Bush administration.
Johnson said that he and President Obama considered a number of candidates, "including those who had never been with the Secret Service.''
"Ultimately, Joe Clancy struck the right balance of familiarity with the Secret Service and its missions, respect from within the workforce, and a demonstrated determination to make hard choices and foster needed change,'' Johnson said Wednesday. "I am confident Joe will continue this management approach.''

Clancy formed a relationship with Obama as the head of his protective division before retiring in 2011...
White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Obama weighed Clancy's personal attachments within the Secret Service with his ability to make a "cold-eyed assessment" of the agency's problems. He said Clancy's "credibility within the agency" has helped him to implement the recommendations of the independent panel brought in to examine the agency's operations.
Last month, Clancy forced out four senior agency officials after the panel's report found that the Secret Service was "starved for leadership."

JOE CLANCY, THE NEW SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR: FANTASTIC CHOICE!

JOE CLANCY, THE NEW SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR: FANTASTIC CHOICE!

My Facebook post sums up my feelings:

"Yes! JOE CLANCY, a great American and one of the best Secret Service agents ever (AND a friend of a friend!), is now SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR, replacing the inept Julia Pierson (although I am sure she is a nice lady). Joe attended West Point and graduated from Villanova University and is one tough guy you do NOT want to mess with. No exaggeration- I am a huge critic of their performance on 11/22/63, yet guys like Joe Clancy are fantastic; Clint Eastwood and John Wayne plus!"

This selection means the Secret Service MEANS business- Joe is THE model of what an agent should be in every facet. Former agent Dan Emmett is a friend of Joe's and his book tells of Joe Clancy's pedigree and talent. I am very happy the agency chose Joe to send everyone a message- NO MORE OF THIS GARBAGE:

November 22, 1963:  NINE agents, including Clint Hill and three others on the Secret Service follow-up vehicle, went drinking and carousing in the early morning hours, having a detrimental effect on President Kennedy's protection. The President was assassinated a short time later in what was and is THE biggest scandal in the Service's history. Hill was not reprimanded but promoted (twice-SAIC of WHD and Assistant Director), awarded a medal, retired early with full government pension, and has gone on to fame and fortune as the author of 4 books with his young girlfriend co-author (as well as a former agent on Kennedy's detail). The protection of Kennedy was horrid- JFK was literally left a sitting duck during that dark day 50 years ago.

November 2009: A Washington couple, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, crash Obama’s first state dinner. The Secret Service later acknowledges that officers never checked whether they were on the guest list. A photo emerges showing that they shook hands with the president. Sullivan, the director, says that he is “deeply concerned and embarrassed” by the breach. The Salahis parlay their fame into an undistinguished career in reality TV.

November 2011: A man with a semiautomatic rifle parks in front of the White House and fires at the building, with Sasha Obama inside and Malia Obama on her way home. A Secret Service supervisor, mistaking the shots for car backfire, orders officers to stand down. The service does not figure out that shots hit the building for four days, and only then because a housekeeper noticed broken glass. The president and first lady are infuriated, The Post reports years later.

April 2012: Eight Secret Service agents doing advance work for a presidential trip to a summit in Colombia lose their jobs after allegations that some took prostitutes from a strip club back to their hotel rooms. A Justice Department investigation finds that two Drug Enforcement Administration agents arranged one encounter between a prostitute and a Secret Service officer. Obama later says: “When we travel, we have to observe the highest standards.”

May 2013: A Secret Service supervisor leaves a bullet in a woman’s room at the Hay-Adams hotel, which overlooks the White House, and allegedly tries to force his way into the room to retrieve it. An investigation finds that the supervisor and a colleague sent sexually suggestive emails to a woman subordinate. The supervisor loses his job, and the colleague is reassigned. A Secret Service spokesman says: “Periodically we have isolated incidents of misconduct, just like every organization does.”

March 2014: Three Secret Service agents responsible for protecting Obama in Amsterdam are placed on leave after a night of drinking, in violation of Secret Service rules. One of the agents is passed out drunk in a hallway, The Post reports. The newspaper reports that the three are part of what is known as the counter assault team, a last line of defense responsible for fighting off assailants if the president or his motorcade comes under attack.

Sept. 16, 2014: In perhaps the most chilling of the Secret Service lapses, a security contractor with a gun and an assault record gets on an elevator with the president during a trip to Atlanta. The Post, citing people familiar with the incident, reports that the contractor used his cellphone to take video of Obama and did not stop when Secret Service agents told him to. The Secret Service only learns that the man has a gun when he is fired on the spot and turns it over. Obama was not told, The Post reports.

Sept. 19, 2014: An Iraq war veteran with a knife jumps the White House fence, dashes through the North Portico doors and makes it deep inside the building, into the East Room, before he is tackled, and only then by an off-duty Secret Service agent. The Secret Service first says only that the man was apprehended after getting in the door. A congressman tells The Post that a security alarm was disabled because staff nearby found it too noisy.
