What was it like providing protection for our presidents in the 1960s and 70s? Find out at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza's next LIVING HISTORY program. Join us on Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. as we present J. Walter Coughlin, a former U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to President John F. Kennedy's White House detail.
Coughlin was with the Secret Service from 1961 to 1977. He accompanied President Kennedy to Berlin, and was part of the advance team for the president's visits to Miami and San Antonio shortly before the trip to Dallas. Coughlin was back in Washington, D.C. when President Kennedy was assassinated. He went on to serve on the protection details for President Lyndon Johnson and Vice President Hubert Humphrey. He became the agent-in-charge of the Dallas Secret Service office in 1973.
This will be Coughlin's first time speaking at The Sixth Floor Museum
